5 Strokes of darker foundation are used to contour the hollows of the cheeks, sides of the nose, and under the chin. Strokes of lighter foundation are used to highlight the cheekbones, under-eye area, browbone, and middle of the chin. In both instances, use a stick foundation and blend well.
6 A dark-brown powder eyeshadow is
washed onto the entire lid and lightly inder the eye, using a medium shadow brush. Blend well.
7 Curl lashes. Then apply false lashes
to intensify the look of the eyes.
8 Starting at the base of the lashes and
working outward, sweep a coat of black
mascara to the top and bottom lashes
(Note: shifting the mascara wand from
side to side while moving forward
ceposits more mascara on the lashes.)
9 A dark flesh lip pencil is used to
cefine and fill in the mouth.
10 The finishing touch is a burgundy
creme lip color applied, for maximum
control, with a lip brush. (Applying lip
color directly from a tube does not allow
for as much accuracy.)
This is an "in balance" face consisting of dark eyes and a dark mouth. But remember what I said before about dark and light being relative terms? Even though this is a "dark and dark" look, the eyes are not deep and smoky, nor are the lips painted black. In addition, in relation to other elements of the face—including the hair style and color, and outfit—none of the individual parts overshadow any of the others.
